Glazing a timber frame creates a spacious light environment, and can greatly complement an open-plan frame.
Our glazed units are directly attached to the timber structure with the frame visible on both sides. Our choice of fixing method has proven to be consistently watertight and allows for any movement within the frame structure.
Our technique is to set the glazing panels into rebates cut into the exterior of the timber frame. An expansion gap is left around the fixed unit where a specialist silicone is applied allowing maximum flexibility. This technique is complemented by only using seasoned or soft timber which in turn will reduce movement in this area. The expansion gap is finally capped with timber bead using stainless steel fixings.
